2014 in Review

I realize we are already 11 days into 2015 and I still haven't recapped our previous year. Oh well. I am way behind on blogging anyway.

But I'm going to do it now! Here are some highlights from our last year--in written and slideshow form. Yay me!

January

  • We rang in the New Year with Big Ben in view--bucket list item and dream come true. 
  • Derek turned 27! We celebrated with friends. 
  • Henry started to try and walk--a couple steps here and there! He did really well walking hand-in-hand with someone--especially when we went on walks around Kings College. 
February
  • Henry turned 1! Also celebrated with friends. 
  • Lent Bumps--unfortunately no bumps for the Pembroke M2 team, but we LOVED watching them. 
  • Henry and I went in to London just the two of us! We played in the daffodils a lot. 
  • Henry started walking all by himself! WOW!
March
  • We went to the London Temple--amazing experience. 
  • Henry continued mastering the walking thing. He started RUNNING asap. 
  • We took Henry to the London Aquarium, which he loved. 
April
  • We attended the Boat Race, Cambridge vs. Oxford
  • We went to Sweden on Spring Break--not exactly a warm destination, but a blast. 
May
  • We flew back to Utah to see Chelsey and Jeremy married in the Draper Temple
  • Jared and Ariel came to visit us in Cambridge
June
  • Nana came to visit us in Cambridge for 3 weeks!

    • Jane Austen's House
    • Hill Top Farm
    • Lake District
    • Sherwood Forest
    • York
    • Stourhead Gardens
    • Henry had his first McDonald's Kids meal--thanks to Nana! He LOVED it! 
  • May Bumps--the Pembroke M2 boat earned spoons! Again, tough break, but we LOVED watching Daddy race. 
July
  • Independence Day--in England! We even had fireworks. 
  • My grandfather passed away--we were so sad we couldn't be there for his memorial service,so Henry and I visited the Redwood tree in the Botanic Garden in his honor. 
  • Tour de France went through Cambridge
  • We went to the London Zoo
  • Derek and I celebrated 5 years of marriage!
August
  • Windsor with our Cambridge friends
  • Went inside Buckingham Palace
  • Derek turned in his Dissertation! YAY! Master's completed!
September
  • I turned in my dissertation! YAY! Master's completed!
  • Derek was offered a job at GDA Engineers the day we moved out of our house in Cambridge
  • Grandpa and Grandma came to visit us in Cambridge--we toured all over and saw:
    • London twice
    • Oxford
    • Uffington White Horse
    • Bath
    • Bruton
    • Stonehenge
    • Wells
    • Winchester
    • Deal
    • Canterbury
    • Dover
  • We went to Paris--just us 3 Brutons. :)
  • Normandy, France--another bucket list item and dream come true
October
  • We spent two days in London, just us three, before we moved back to Utah. Probably some of the best days of our lives then. 
  • Moved back to Utah
  • BYU Homecoming Game and Parade! Henry loved it.
  • Hike and Light--Papa came, too! 
  • We bought a car! A little Hyundai that we love. 
  • We spent time in the mountains enjoying the beautiful Autumn leaves
  • Halloween with the Schofields!
  • Found out we were pregnant with Baby number 2! Due June 29, 2015
November
  • Thanksgiving--twice! Once in Duchesne and once in Provo
  • Survived a horrible virus--all three of us puking our guts out over a weekend. Awesome.
  • Went to Chelsey's final match at the University of Utah. GO CHELS!
  • Cut our Christmas tree
  • Went to Temple Square lights twice
December
  • We spent a few days in Cody, Wyoming with Derek's company. Such a great time
  • Derek was in a crash with our Toyota--we said goodbye to our family car with lots of tears. 
  • Baby Caleb was born! YAY!  Nephew/Cousin!
  • Christmas! Henry had the best Christmas ever
  • I made it through the hardest part of pregnancy #2! At least sickness wise. :) Baby bump also starting to show here and there. 
  • Rang in 2015 with the Schofields in Provo


We had such an amazing year with so much adventuring!! And yes, lots to look forward to in 2015! We are excited for our family to get bigger and better! (if that's even possible! :D)




P.S. the photos in the video reflect the highlights I listed. Of course we took HUNDREDS of photos--it was difficult to narrow them down! This was really the only way I could do it without turning this video into a 20 minute show of the Bruton family.
